Opposition People’s Party (PP) has come out of his cocoon to trash reports hovering on the social media that the Party is being sponsored by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri of Enlighten Christian Gathering (ECG) Church, saying the reports are untrue.

The development comes barely a week after Bushiri released money amounting to MK44 million to Malawi’s national team to fulfill its fixture in the 2017 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifies against Guinea.

The cash caused disagreement between Football Association of Malawi (FAM) officials and Minister of Sports Grace Obama Chiumia with the latter accusing FAM of using shortcuts in acquiring the cash from Bushiri.

After the cash, the social media was awatched with reports that Prophet Bushiri is connected to former President Dr. Joyce Banda who is currently is self-imposed exile and the he is bankrolling the Party to conductor rallies across the country.

Speaking in an interview with the press, PP interim President Uladi Mussa denied receiving funds from Bushiri, saying the Party has its own means of sourcing funds.

Mussa while admitting that some of its members congregate in Bushiri’s Church said he has never at any point asked for funds from Bushiri.
He further said that he respect Bushiri as a man of God.

Turning to the bloody violence that erupted in Mzuzu where four Malawi Congress Party (MCP) members were seriously injured by unknown thugs, Mussa said the fracas has no any impact to the Party’s rebuilding exercise.

He also maintained that Christopher Mzomera Ngwira who is linked to the chaos is not part of the PP, saying he is expelled from the Party.

Ngwira admitted to the media that he was behind the chaos.
