The Sheriffs on Tuesday pounced on the FDH Bank Umoyo House Branch and confiscated computers from the Bank, forcing the bank to close for some hours.
Judicial Spokesperson Mlenga Mvula and Bank officials confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Banks officials, sheriffs confiscated five computers and a printer forcing business at the bank to come to a standstill.
In an interview, Mvula said the computers were confiscated in enforcement of the damages of liability in which Maranatha Girls Academy Limited was awarded 785 million kwacha by the court.
“This was the loss that the school suffered when the bank failed to give the school three months statutory notice when it advertised in the newspapers on July 25, 2012 that it will sell Maranatha Girls Academy Limited for failure to settle a loan the school got from the bank,” said Mvula.
On his part, FDH Head of Marketing Sobhuza Ngwenya expressed surprised by the court decision.
Meanwhile reports indicate that the seized computers have been returned.
