Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that the High Court in Blantyre has today adjourned a Corruption case involving former state president Dr Bakili Muluzi to Thursday April 14, 2016.
Muluzi together with his personal assistant, Violet whisky are being accused of diverting money amounting to Mk1.7 Billion kwacha into his personal account.
The case failed to commence due to the fact that, the first state witness in the case failed to show up and the State wanted to proceed in parading the second witness, a move which was objected by the defence team.
The lawyer representing Muluzi said he was not prepared to cross examine the second accused.
The development left the Presiding Judge Maclean Kamwambe with no options but to adjourn the case to Thursday.
Earlier last year, Muluzi requested the Supreme Court of Appeal in the country to considering the referring the case to Constitution court, saying the case was politically motivated.
Muluzi in his argument accused late Bingu wa Mutharika of being behind case in the sense that he ordered to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to act basing on his orders.
