Classes have resumed at Polytechnic, a constituent college of the University of Malawi (UNIMA) after a one moth strike by lecturers.

Poly lecturers were demanding a 30 percent salary hike but the management and the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika trashed the call, saying the increment will affects the smooth operations of UNIMA.

A visit by FaceofMalawi reporter at Polytechnic on Monday saw students learning in their respective classes normally.

According to information at hand, the lecturers have returned to work to secure their jobs as management threatened to fire them.

Meanwhile Polytechnic Students Union leader Frank Msiska has applauded the lecturers for the U-turn.
