An 18 year old girl died on Sunday while climbing Mulanje Mountain in the Southern part of Malawi.

Mulanje Mountain Conservation Truest Environmental Education and Communications Officer Kondwani Chamwala confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday.

Chamwala identified the girl as Tasiyana Chipala, a Kasupe Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) youth member from Blantyre.

According to Chamwala, the deceased together with fellow youths from Chilimba were touring Mulanje Mountain and as they were heading to Dziwe la Nkhalamba, the girl complained of short of breath and collapsed.

The girl was taken to Mulanje District Hospital (MDH) and was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Burial took place yesterday in Ntcheu, according to Chamwala.
