There was drama at the official commissioning of Salima Lakeshore Water Supply when the MP for Salima Central who is also Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Felix Jumbe when he backed President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika that no one has died of hunger in the country.

Jumbe went further saying Malawi was having enough Maize to feed its people contrary to claims by his Party President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and other opposition Political Parties in the country.

Chakwera told Parliament during the just ended mid-year budget review that some of the Malawians in the country have lost their lives due to hunger and he went further asking the house to observe a minute of silence.

Jumbe’s statement was regarded as a betrayal to Chakwera’s view of Malawi’s hunger situation.

On his part, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika hailed Jumbe for standing with him on the hunger situation in Malawi.

Mutharika also urged Jumbe to continue putting on blue regalia.

Meanwhile MCP is yet to respond to a statement made by Jumbe on Friday.
