Second accused in the MK1.7 billion corruption case involving former President Dr. Bakili Muluzi, Violet Whiskey has been admitted at Blantyre Adventist Hospital after collapsing while in Court.
Judiciary Spokesperson Mlenga Mvula has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Mvula, Whiskey collapsed just after entering the court-dock.
Mvula also trashed the claims that Whiskey was afraid, saying it is not her first time to be in court.
He also said the case has been adjourned to Tuesday.
Muluzi and Whiskey are accused of misappropriating $11 million (about K7.6 billion at present exchange rate, but the court is quoting the 2005 value of K1.7 billion) in public funds.
The case dates back to 2006 and has now taken about 10 years due to numerous adjournments mainly attributed to the former president’s ill health.
