Second accused in the in the K1.7bn corruption case involving former president Bakili Muluzi, Violet whiskey has been discharged from Blantyre Adventist Hospital.
Whiskey collapsed while in court dock at the High Court on Monday and was rushed to the hospital for medication.
The development left Judge Maclean Kamwambe with no option but to adjourn the case today to allow Whiskey to be treated.
Speaking after the adjournment, State prosecutor and Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Reyneck Matemba said the case will proceed today even in the case where the second accused is still in hospital.
He said the case has stalled for so long and it has to be concluded as soon as possible.
Meanwhile Whiskey was discharged from hospital Monday evening and she is expected to be at the high court today.
