In a bizarre incident, two students have committed suicide by hanging themselves at Mtendere Secondary school campus in Dedza.
Dedza Police spokesperson Edward Kabango has confirmed of the incident in an interview with the press and identified the deceased students as Horacio Pedro Augusto Mitengo and Aulelino Malamusi.
According to Kabango, Mitengo was suffering from malaria and was admitted at Mtendere Mission Hospital and was later discharged.
He said on 26 April the deceased went to a toilet within the school campus where he hanged himself.
Kabango also said the second deceased was a second year student at Malawi University 0f Science and Technology (M UST) and was sent back home because of fees balance.
Malamusi was staying within Mtendere campus with his father who works as a teacher at Mtendere Secondary School.
Police said the deceased on 25 April he left home to one of the drinking joints and returned late at night.
He started throwing stones at his parent’s house. Later in the morning he was discovered dead hanging in a kitchen.
Postmortem results showed that both died due to strangulation.
