President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed a government technical team which will continue to engage with Public Affairs Committee (PAC) on matters of national interest.
Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Civic Education Patricia Kaliati confirmed of the development in a statement released on Wednesday to the press.
According to Kaliati, the government technical committee is chaired by honourable Samuel Tembenu who is also Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
Tembenu is also the government spokesperson in the technical committee.
“The State President moved to appoint this team because he values and prioritises dialogue on matters of national interest. The President wishes both the Government technical team and the PAC fruitful dialogue as we build Malawi,” said Kaliati in the statement.
Some of the notable faces in the committee are Dr. Collins Magalasi, Chief Economic Advisor and Executive Assistant to the President, Mr. Mavuto Bamusi, Special Advisor and Assistant to the President on NGOs and Civil Society, Hon. Dr. Peter Kumpalume, Minister of Health and Dr. Hetherwick Ntaba, Chief Advisor to the President on Domestic Policy.
Mutharika’s appointment comes barely a month after him and PAC headed by Father Peter Mulomole agreed to disagree during a meeting held at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe.
PAC had an audience with Mutharika to present some of the resolutions made at a conference held in February at Mount Soche in Blantyre.
