Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who is also leader of opposition in Parliament is this afternoon expected to respond to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s State of National Address (SONA).
Mutharika delivered his speech on Friday during the official opening of budgetary session of 2016/17 which will lust for eight weeks.
In his speech, Mutharika highlighted a number of issues affecting the country such as the looming hunger, drug theft in hospitals, Albino abductions and others.
Speaking in an interview after Mutharika’s speech, Chakwera branded the speech as empty.
Chakwera said Mutharika in his speech he offered no any solutions to the challenges affecting the country.
MCP President promised to provide full analysis of Mutharika’s speech today when given time by the speaker.
Apart from Chakwera, opposition People’s Party (PP) President and leader in the house Uladi Mussa is also expected to respond to Muthatika’s speech.
Meanwhile Mutharika’s speech has attracted mixed reactions among Malawians.
