President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has come out of his cocoon to defend his State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered in Parliament on Friday last week, saying his speech was not empty.
Mutharika’s response came barely hours after opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera described the speech as ‘empty’ and ‘bed time story’.
Speaking to people in Kasungu, Mutharika accused the opposition of being against his leadership.
“I was in parliament on Friday, I spoke for one and half hours and somebody said my speech was empty. I know he did not understand it, it was beyond his comprehension,” said Mutharika.
Mutharika’s speech saw both Cabinet ministers and opposition MPs sleeping throughout.
Meanwhile Mutharika’s speech continues to attract mixed reactions.
