Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has today started administering the 2016 Junior Certification of Education (JCE) examination across the country.

The examinations will run for two weeks and a total of 143,134 registered candidates are taking part in writing the examinations.

Speaking in an interview with the press ahead of the examinations on Monday, MANEB Public Relations Officer Simeon Maganga said all set for the examinations.

He said all the relevant documents including the IDs and examination papers have been sent in all centres across the country.

Maganga further urged all candidates to desist from cheating malprace.

This year’s JCE examinations will be the last to be administered by MANEB since President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika ordered it to be abolished.

In his argument, Mutharika said it is costly for the government to administer the examinations countrywide.

Mutharika’s decision attracted mixed reaction from the general public with others saying this will further lower the country’s education.
