Unconfirmed report indicates that a 32-year old man is in police custody over his openly Facebook hate post saying “All Albinos in Malawi should be killed wherever they might be found.”

The suspect identified as Dickson Gobede was arrested on Tuesday in Lilongwe.

Gobede is said to have shared the hate post to My Malawi My Views on Monday and the post attracted mixed reactions from all corners with others accusing him of being in human.

“Kaya munditukwana kaya mundilodza nda nena ndanena basi. Mukapeza ma ALUBINO akuyenda palipose imphani amenewo mwayi ndi omweo chifukwa ndi Business yokwiya imeneyi yokatamutsa mwachangu ndibwino Mmalawi muno musakhaleso ma ALUBINO akutipatsa mayeselo heavy,” the post read in part.

Police moved in and arrested Gobede on Tuesday. When quizzed he denied of being behind the post, saying his account was hacked.

Recently the country has experienced a sharp increase in albino killings forcing other NGOs to call for death penalty to albino killers.

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has on several times been quoted urging Malawians to join him in fighting the malpractice.
