Many of us are afraid to really fall in love and this leaves us having defences we believe would protect us from getting hurt. So why are we really afraid to fall in love?

Below are 5 reasons why you are afraid to love

1. LOVE STIRS UP FEAR

The deeper we fall in love, the more we become afraid of losing that person. When you fall in love, the thought of losing it might be frightening and this sometimes make people afraid of falling in love. They stay away from relationships or try not to give their all in relationships so they won’t have this fear.

2. THE FEAR OF BEING VULNERABLE

For many, the fear of being vulnerable is the reason why they are afraid of falling in love. Falling in love is a big risk and many are really scared of taking this risk. When you fall in love, you see yourself trusting your partner and this makes you feel exposed and vulnerable. This makes you believe that the more you care, the more you might get hurt.

3. THE FEAR OF YOUR PARTNER NOT LOVING YOU ENOUGH

Many people are afraid of falling in love because they fear their partner might not love them enough. They fear they might love so much and get so little in return. Worrying whether your partner would love you equally might prevent you from falling in love.

4. YOU BELIEVE LOVE DOESN’T EXIST

Many people are really afraid to love because they believe love doesn’t exist. They don’t believe anyone can truly love them for who they are. Sometimes these beliefs come as a result of experiences we have had while growing up and we just let them shape our views about love.

5. YOU ARE SCARED OF GETTING HURT AGAIN

The fear of getting hurt again is another reason why many are afraid to love. Due to hurt from previous relationships, you become wary of opening up for something new. You stay away from falling in love because it stirs up feelings of hurt, anger or rejection.
Why don’t you give yourself a chance to love again?
