President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will today, Monday June 13, 2016 attend commemorations marking this year’s International Albinism Awareness Day in Kasungu district.

This has been disclosed in a Press Statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) signed by Presidential Press Officer Mgeme Kalilani.

According to Kalilani, Mutharika will arrive at Kasungu Community Ground, venue of the event at 10:30 in the morning.

The Global theme for the commemorations is; Celebrate Diversity, Promote Inclusiveness and Protect Rights of People with Albinism. Here in Malawi the event will be marked under the theme; Together We Must End Human Rights Violations Against People With Albinism.

The Commemorations in Malawi comes at a time when the country is experiencing a sharp increase in albino killings with closer to 20 albinos reported dead and others abducted.
