Two security Officers at Mzuzu State House have been arrested for allegedly being involved in the spate of robberies in the city.
Mzuzu Police publicist Peter Kalaya has confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the press and identified the suspects as Weak Njolomole and Sergeant Misheck Makweza.
According to Kalaya, the two were mentioned by three hardcore criminals on Thursday.
President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s security officers are said to be behind most of the robberies which were happening in Mzuzu by supplying uniforms to the thugs and ammunitions.
“We have managed to arrest 5 civilians in the process together with two officers,” said Kalaya.
The two security officers are being kept at Mzuzu Mobile Police Delta Company.
Njolomole hails from Njolomole village in Traditional Authority Njolomole while Makweza hails from Mtopi village Traditional Authority Nkalo in Chiradzulu.
