Members of Parliament will today resume debating on 2016/17 national budget presented by Minister of Finance and Economic Development Goodall Gondwe two weeks ago.
Parliament went on two weeks break to allow lawmakers scrutinize the budget statement through cluster committee of the house.
Deputy Government Chief Whip Kondwani Nankhumwa confirmed of the meeting in an interview with the press.
The first to make his contribution on the budget statement will be financial spokesperson from Malawi Congress Party (MCP) followed by spokesperson from opposition People’s Party (PP).
After the two, the floor will be opened for all members in the house to make their contributions on the financial statement.
Meanwhile information sourced by this publication indicates that MPs will not pass the budget if government does not hike their monthly salaries.
