The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) has warned Malawians across the country they should expect more blackouts in the days due to low water levels in Lake Malawi.

This has been disclosed in a Press Statement released on Monday made available to FaceofMalawi.

The statement says water levels in the Lake started dropping in March resulting in reduced generation capacity and that it will effect load shedding until the water situation improves.

According to the statement, power generation is being restricted due to the low water levels in Lake Malawi and the resultant regulated water flows in Shire River where Escom taps its water for hydro power generation.

Meanwhile the warning has raised fear among business players in the country since the body has not indicated as to when the situation will improve.
