Newly appointed Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) commissioners will be sworn-in on Friday in the capital Lilongwe.

This has been disclosed in a press statement released on Wednesday to the press signed by MEC’s Chief Elections officer Willie Kalonga.

According to Kalonga, the swearing in ceremony will be held at Capital Hotel starting from 2pm and will be presided over by Hon Chief Justice His Lordship Andrew Nyirenda, SC.

“After the swearing in, the Commissioners will in subsequently undergo an induction process which will include:

“Training for newly appointed Commissioners organized by Electoral Commissions Forum of SADC (ECF SADC) in Harare from 22nd to 24th June, 2016,” said Kalonga.

He added: “In-house induction on MEC departmental operations and activities, procedures and policies,Orientation on Public Procurement and Training in Corporate Governance.”

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika appointed the team on Monday last week.
