Dream of well-known musician Giddes Chalamanda of going to America has finally come to pass. The artist together with some other well-known musicians left the country on Wednesday through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA).

Chalamanda, 86 expressed interest of going to America way back and his interest came to light when he released his song titled ‘coming to America’.

In the song, Chalamanda highlighted his dream of going to America if he had enough money to see beautiful places.

Chalamanda’s dream came to reality with the help of Edgar and Davis who organized some shows across the country to raise money for the artist.

Speaking before departure at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) on Wednesday, Chalamanda thanked Malawians for helping him with funds to have his trip come to a reality.

Chalamanda promised Malawians to raise the Malawian flag high in America by performing cultural songs.

Among the musicians that have travelled are Edgar Kachere, Davis Njobvu, Patience Namadingo and Amos Mlowa who covered the costs of their own individual tickets.

Also travelling with the group is Namadingo’s manager Tonderai Jai Banda and Kheliwe Murimu of O’Nthambi Events who is part of the organizing team and has been an instrumental player in the fundraising efforts as well as the preparations for the trip who have also both paid for their own tickets.
