Addis ababa University of Ethiopia has honored President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika with an award of Degree of Doctor of Letters Honoris Causa.
This has been disclosed in a press statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) signed by Presidential Press Officer Mgeme Kalilani.
According to Kalilani, the University has honoured Mutharika his great and outstanding contribution in academia in the world which has inspired and continues to inspire other scholars to follow his path.
“The University says it has decided to honour Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who is also the Regional Universities Forum (RUFORUM) Champion for Higher Education in Africa,co-convener of the International Commission on Financing Global Educationand Charles Nagel Professor of International and Comparative Constitutional Law Emeritus of the Washington University in the USA for his great and outstanding contribution in academia in the world which has inspired and continues to inspire other scholars to follow his path,” reads in part the statement.
According to a letter from the University’s President, the Senate of the University gave the approval while its Board of Governors has given full recognition of the selection of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for the honour.
Meanwhile President Mutharika accepted the conferment of the honour of the Degree of Letters Honoris Causa whose ceremony shall be held at the Addis Ababa University on July 9, 2016.
