The national wide strike by teachers from public Primary and Secondary School has entered the second day.
Teachers started the strike on Friday last week following the failure by government to effect their demands in the ultimatum which expired on June 30.
The teachers through Teachers Union of Malawi, are demanding that government address their grievances such as promotions, salary adjustments and payment of 2015/16 leave grants.
Apart from that, the teachers against the new Timetable released by Ministry of Education Science and Technology, saying they were not consulted when the calendar was being drafted.
Speaking in an interview with the press, TUM President Denis Kalekeni said the teachers will only go back to work once their demands are met.
Meanwhile Ministry of Education is yet to speak on the matter.
