Jill Biden, wife to United States Vice President, Joe Biden, is expected to visit Malawi during her three-nation Africa tour between July 15 and July 23.
According to a statement from the US Embassy in Lilongwe, Biden and US Ambassador-at-large for Global Women’s issues, Catherine Russell, will engage government and civil society partners on issues related to economic empowerment and educational opportunity for women and girls.
“During their travel, Dr. Biden and Ambassador Russell will also highlight partnerships on global health and food security to reduce hunger and lift people out of poverty,” reads the statement.
US Ambassador to Malawi Virginia Palmer said the embassy looks forward to welcoming the US second lady.
“Dr. Biden will learn more about what Malawi and the U.S. are doing together to ensure hunger doesn’t roll back development gains,” Palmer said
