United Nation Secretary General Ban Ki Moon’s plane abruptly landed at Kamuzu International Airport in the capital Lilongwe Sunday night after running out of fuel.
Immigration officials have confirmed of the incident in an interview with the press, saying Ki Moon stopped at KIA to fuel his place en route to South Africa.
But information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that Ki Moon stopped at KIA to have a talk with some of the Cabinet Ministers under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
According to information at hand, Ki Moon met Minister of Information Communication Technology and Civic Education Patricia Kaliati.
Apart from Kaliati, Ki Moon also met Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Francis Kasaila and trade minister Joseph Mwamvekha.
Mr. Ban and ministers met in the VIP Lounge where they talked for close to an hour.
