The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has distanced it’s from the claims that the party is having a hand in the torching down of the vehicle belonging to Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson Dr. Jessie Kabwila.

Kabwila’s vehicle Toyota fortuner was torched down by unknown thugs on Wednesday night at Lilongwe Golf Club in the capital.

Speaking to the press after the incident, Kabwila accused the DPP administration of having a hand in the incident, saying the Party wants to silence her for being critical of the just passed Customary Land Bill in the National Assembly.Kabwila 777

She said that before the incident she received a text message through whatssapp that she is being hunted by the Police of being behind the Chancellor College Demonstrations and speaking against the Customary Land Bill.

Reacting to the claims, Minister of Information, Communications Technology and Civic Education Patricia Kaliati said Kabwila is just blowing up the issue.

Kaliati said many people have spoken against the Customary Land Bill and no one has been attacked.

The highly charged Minister attributed the incident to the internal squabbles happening in the Malawi Congress Party.

Kabwila has been so critical of the DPP administration under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and she was recently arrested for plotting to overthrow Mutharika and his government.
