Recent research has revealed that there are many people that are infected with HIV in Blantyre the virus that causes AIDS pandemic.

This was said by Dr Emanuel Kanjunjunju who is Director of Health for Blantyre during the commemoration of this year international AIDS Candle light at Mbayani Primary school ground.

Dr Kanjunjunju encouraged young people between the ages of 15 to 20 not to lack behind in accessing HIV/AIDS services because youth are the one who are mostly affected by the disease.

In a related development it has been revealed that young people of the ages between 10 and 19 are the ones who are mostly affected by the HIV/AIDS in Africa.

This was said at the AIDS conference which is being held in South Africa by delegates comprising of scientist, researchers and activists from different countries across the World.

The delegates said this is because most people of this age group do not have access to HIV/AIDS and most of them do not read newspapers.

The candle Light memorial was celebrated under the theme “Engage, educate and empower a call to renown towards to HIV/AIDS response.
The first HIV/AIDS Candle Light memorial was in United States of America in 1983 when much about the disease was not known to the World.
