A 44-year old man working as shop supervisor at Macsteel Malawi Limited is in Police custody in Kasungu for allegedly stealing goods worth MK K1,323,252.15.

Kasungu deputy police spokesperson Harry Namwaza confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the press and identified the suspect as Alick Maxwel Kasiya.

According to Namwaza, the suspect was arrested after an audit report revealed that goods worth MK1.3 million were missing from the shops and all fingers pointed at the suspect.

“The suspect is responsible for the missing items which include Iron sheets, binding wires, galvanised wires, roll brick force, welding rods and wire nails,” said Namwaza.

The suspect has been charged with Theft by Servant which is contrary to Section 286 of the Penal Code.
