The Minister of sports and culture Grace Chiumia has pulled several criticism for describing President Peter Mutharika as ‘Life President, and People’s party spokesperson Ken Msonda has described her speech as careless and senseless.

In happy mood, Chiumia made the remarks at a gathering at a Muhlakho Wa Alomwe fundraising event which took place at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) last Friday.

However, after several criticisms she described it as it was just as a result of the slippery of the tongue which Msonda has refuted.

“Let us not waste time commenting on careless and senseless remarks coming from politicians trying to buy favours from the head of state. No person with the right frame of mind in a multiparty dispensation can change the republican constitution and bring in the so called life presidency. Whatever reason behind such undemocratic line of thinking is not possible,” said Msonda.

Msonda also said that at first they did not want to comment as they understood Chiumia’s speech as she  depicted lack of good leadership hierarchy in her party which made her think that after Mutharika term no one can take over.
