Police in Dedza have arrested two people for possessing fake South African bank notes amounting to R19, 000.00 (about K1 million).

Dedza police spokesperson Constable Cassim Manda confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the press, saying the suspects were nabbed when they wanted to exchange fake banks at Dedza border post.

Manda identified them as Benard Nyirenda, aged 41 and 46 year-old Themba Nyirenda, all from Chiyona-Nyirenda village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mbelwa in Mzimba district.

The two will appear in court soon.
