Head of Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Salima identified as Pilirani Ng’oma (42) was brutally murdered by unknown thugs at her house in Chipoka in the district on Monday night.

The Salima police Public Relations Officer Gift Chitowe confirmed the incident and said the deceased was of the rank of Inspector and In-charge of Chipoka Police CID.

Chitowe said Ng’oma was attacked at her house situated outside Chipoka Police Campus.

“On the afternoon of [Monday] we were together with the deceased attending the presidential opening of Salima Sugar Company and after the function she went straight to her house.During the same night unknown thugs invaded her house where they murdered her before stealing assorted accessories,” he said.

In an interview Salima Police, Officer-In-Charge, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Josiah Kanthiti said he was deeply concerned over the loss of “an officer who was dedicated and hardworking.”

Added Kanthiti, “It is unfortunate that people are turning against the law enforcers, this is a bad development which may affect the work of law enforcement.”

He added saying that he believes the thugs will eventually be arrested. Apart from the murder, the thugs also went away with assorted items.

“I appeal to all good people within the area to come forward with information which may lead to the arrest of the suspects,” he said.
