Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Parliamentarian for Salima Central Felix Jumbe is reported to be hiding in unknown place following reports that some top officials in the Party are after his life.

Jumbe is among the people who are advocating for leadership change in the Party, accusing MCP’s President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of being undemocratic.

The squabbles in MCP started when Chakwera reshuffled the Party’s National Executive committee (NEC), demoting Jumbe from his position and roped in new faces.

As this was not enough, Jumbe was also kicked out of his position as chair of Parliamentary committee on Agriculture.

Jumbe was reduced to just a mere member of the Defence committee of Parliament.

Speaking to State controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC 1) on Monday, Jumbe said the threat on his life is real and that he has reported the matter to police.

Meanwhile MCP officials have trashed Jumbe’s claims, saying the claims are not true.
