Dreams and visions seemed to be swallowed into dark cloud after a man in Dedza tested positive for HIV, so he ended his life

According to source, a 44 year-old man on Saturday hanged himself to death in his house days after being tested HIV positive.

The police have identified the deceased as Gerald Phiri, who said felt sick on 12 August and he went to Golomoti Health Centre where he was tested HIV positive.

“Since being tested HIV positive the deceased has been unhappy,” police said.

On Saturday, the deceased did not hold on his stress longer than to hang himself in his house.

Post-mortem conducted revealed that the death was caused due to strangulation and police say they are not suspecting any foul play over the death.

The deceased hailed from Chagunda village, in the area of Traditional Authority Kachindamoto in Dedza district.
