Peoples Land Organization (PLO) leader Vincent Wandale arrested over the weekend for allegedly mobilizing people in Mulanje, Thyolo to grab land from Tea Estate owners is still on remand at Blantyre Police.

Southern Region Police spokesperson Superintendent James Kadadzera confirmed of the development in an interview with the press on Monday, saying Wandale and his 22 accomplices are still on remand.

Wandale was expected to appear in court at the Blantyre magistrate yesterday afternoon to answer charges of encroachment.

Police on Thursday used teargas to disperse angry villagers who invaded Conforzi Tea Estate in Thyolo and over 22 people were arrested during the fracas.
