Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that Inspector General of Police Lexten Kachama has fired its national Police Spokesperson Nicholas Gondwa and transferred him from police headquarters in Area 30to Mponela.

Gondwa has been replaced by former Southern Region Police spokesperson James Kadadzera.

Deputy National Police Public Relations Officer Thomeck Nyaude confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying the shakeup has not affected Gondwa only.

Nyaude told the press that the shakeup is normal.

A part from Gondwa, the shakeup has also seen the transfer of Willie Mwaluka who once served as national police spokesperson from SCDP Eastern Region back to Area 30 as Officer in charge responsible for Inspectorate Unit.

In the North, former president’s guard commander Gerald Mitayi (DCP) has been transferred from Rumphi to head Nkhunga Police.

Salima Police Officer- in- Charge Josiah Kanthiti (DCP ) has been moved to national police headquarters.

Senior Deputy Commissioner of police for the Central Region Hennings Mlotha has also been transferred to Eastern Region police.
