Former T/A Chekucheku iv is planning to meet the state President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika through Chief Secretary in the office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) to say his side of story after being fired this year.
“I was dismissed as chief of Neno because of other people like Director of Chief in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Makonokaya and Neno Dc Memory Kaleso Menteiro and gave wrong reports to the President,” he said.
He said other people in the area accused him for grabbing people’s land, confusing people at Neno, emblazing orphans money, elevating Group Village Head men and accused of denying development in his area.
“These stories were just fabricated by people who do not want me as chief. The President is not bad but there are some people at the state house who tell him lies just to show as if they are good but there were for benefiting themselves,” he said.
Former T/A said people should emulate the good example of Director of state residences Peter Mukhito and Ben Phiri.
“In this regard, I ask your office to send professional people like Bishop Matoga, Apostle Timothy Khoviwa, Presidential Advisor on Religious Affairs and the Present of Seventh Day Adventist Mr Kuyama and NGO’s like Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN) Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) and Catholic Commission for Justice and peace (CCJP) Centre for the Development of the People (CEDEP) to investigate and establish the truth of the whole story because they are professionals,” he said.
He said the whole purpose of doing this is to clear my name because people from Dambe are the ones who are bringing divisions in as far the Chieftaincy of Chekucheku is concerned.
He further said they arte the very same people who received Yatuta Chisiza in 1967 to over throw the Malawi Government.
“In the history of Neno the white were received by T/A Chekucheku. My aim is not to become Senior Chief but to talk the truth only. I am the one who know the history of all Chiefs in Neno and Mwanza districts respectively,” he said.
Former T/A Chekucheku has also ask and urge government officials to tell the President the truth not lies.
