As Malawians are eagerly waiting for the truth to come out in the MK1.7 billion corruption case involving former President Dr. Bakili Muluzi and his personal aide Violet Whiskey, Muluzi’s lawyer wants the case referred to the constitutional court.
Muluzi’s lawyer made the application on Monday when the case resumed at the High Court in the commercial capital Blantyre.
Previously Muluzi also wanted the case to be heard at the Constitutional Court accusing the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of being bias of the state but Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda of the Supreme Court rejected the request.
Reacting to the request Judge Kamwambi asked for more time to read the application and make a ruling on whether to refer the case back to the Constitutional Court.
Meanwhile the case has been adjourned to Thursday.
