The organisers of the Sand Music Festival want to replace Sizzla for renowned Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz.
The Music Festival which will be held at Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima from October 28 to October 30 where first believed to have several Jamaican artists include Sizzla but now organisers have changed and settled for Diamond.
The Events Director, Lucius Banda, confirmed on Wednesday that they were set to bring Diamond having made a thorough research.
“I can confirm that we are talking to Diamond but I would rather not say much because we are still working on the papers. We will announce the lineup of all the artists performing next week once everything is in black and white,” he said.
Coincidentally, a press statement from TNM released following their partnership with Sand Music Festival has put it clearly that the award winning Tanzanian artist is the headliner of this year’s festival.
Sand Music Festival Media and Marketing Officer Jack McBrams also confirmed that Diamond would be the headliner for the festival this year.
Diamond Platnumz or simply Diamond real name Naseeb Abdul Juma is a Bongo Flava recording artist, who is doing well at the moment and has collaborated with several other top artists.
Born on October 2, 1989, Diamond is best known for his hit song Number One.
According to available information, Diamond has won numerous awards at Channel O and the HiPipo Music Awards.
He performed at the Big Brother Africa (BBA) 7 eviction show in May 2012.
The Tanzanian artist is considered influential among his fans, and is said to be the most loved and decorated Tanzanian artist at the moment.
Information also has it that he was the highest selling Tanzanian artist of ringtones by mobile phone companies in 2013, as well as being among the artists earning the highest income in the African Great Lakes region’s music industry.
