Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) has denied reports hovering on the social media indicating that from October 10 2016 it will be recruiting new teachers under IPTE 9 and ODL4, saying the statement is untrue.

Earlier this week social media was a washed with a statement baring the signature of TUM Secretary General urging the said teachers to report for registration in their respective District Education Officers and Ministry of Education by October 10.

In a statement TUM Secretary General Denis Kalekeni urged teacher under IPTE 9 and ODL4 to disregard the statement.

Kalekeni said the statement was issued by misguided individuals, whose motive is best known to themselves.

“For this reason TUM urges all concerned IPTE 9 and ODL 4 teacher graduates and the general public not to listen and pay any attention to the contents of the misguided posting.

“…this misguided posting has a great bearing on a number of innocent people some of which may act in compliance to the posting and waste their precious time and resources. This type of behaviour must not be toralated and is hereby being strongly condemned,” reads the statement in part.

Added Kalekeni: “TUM, through its designated structures will continue to provide accurate and authenticated postings to teachers’ forums for its members to be guided and updated.”
