Despite President Peter Mutharika has exceeded normal schedules in the United States of America that pulled a lot of criticisms, government has assured Malawians that that hold President up is for their own good.

Almost a week ago, the president went to the US to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that lasted approximately 3 days but he has since extended his stay in America.

According to Minister of information Malison Ndau has claimed that the president is not wasting money since he is meeting several stakeholders and investors who will bring more opportunities to Malawi.

“Its wrong to say that the President is squandering taxpayers’ money because the long stay is for the betterment of this country,” said Ndau.

The minister disclosed that the President it would have been costly for him to come to Malawi and then go back to the US to meet the investors.

However, Ndau said the day of Mutharika’s coming is not known but he expressed hope that the Malawi leader will be returning home soon.
