Suspended Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Spokesperson Jessie Kabwila has denied reports hovering on the social media that she is planning to join the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), saying the rumours are untrue.

Kabwila said this on Monday in an interview after reporting to Police per bail condition in a case where she together with other two MCP officials namely Ulemu Msungama and Peter Chankhwantha are being accused of planning to oust President Prefessor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s resign through WhatsApp conversation.

In the interview Kabwila accused the ruling DPP of interfering in the case, citing delays in setting the dates for the case.

“I cannot join the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) because I have not forgotten the sufferings the Party inflicted on me. They terminated my child’s internship at Ministry of Foreign Affairs without no reason,” she said.

Reacting to the claims, DPP’s campaign director Ecklen Kudontoni trashed Kabwila’s remarks, saying Kabwila should let the DPP alone.
