Kamuzu College of Nursing (KCN) student has died in a car accident involving a minibus that happened on Wednesday in Nsanje.

The accident happened at a place called Kalenso in Nsanje and five people died on the spot while 16 others sustained serious injuries.

Nsanje Police spokesperson Agness Zalakoma confirmed of the accident in an interview with the press and identified the student as Solomon Kainga.

According to Zalakoma, the driver of the Minibus registration number DG 2276 which was heading to Blantyre from Nsanje Boma failed to negotiate a corner after arriving at Kalenso due to over speeding and the vehicle overturned, killing five people on the spot.

On its part, the University of Malawi (UNIMA) has expressed shock over the death of Kainga.

Kainga hailed from Namanya village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) in Nsanje.

Late Kainga, third year student at KCN will be laid to rest today in his home district in Nsanje.
