The Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has denied reports hovering on the social media that it is recruiting new soldiers to undergo six Months training, saying the statement is untrue.

On Wednesday the social media was awashed with a statement that the MDF is Inviting Applications From Suitable Malawians Male or Female Age Between 18 To 26 And Single to Undergo 6 Months Training And Upon Successful Completion to be Recruited As Soldiers by Ministry Of Defence.

“Malawi Defence Force(mdf) Is Inviting Applications From Suitable Malawians To Undergo 6 Months Training And Upon Successfully Completion Will Be Recruited As Soldiers By Ministry Of Defence! The Applicants Must Meet The Following Qualification! 1 Be Malawians Male Or Female Age Between 18 To 26 And Single.2 Be Holders Of Msce.

“Those With Other Academic Qualifications Will Have Added Advantage. 3 Be Between 1.8 M For Females And 2m For Males. 4 Clean With No Crime Record! Send Your Applications To : The Human Resource, Min Of Defence, Kamuzu Baracks , P/B 271 LL Not Later Than 12 October 2016. Source The Nation 3 October!” reads in part the statement.

Speaking in an interview with the press on Wednesday, MDF Spokesperson Paul Chiphwanya denied issuing the said statement, saying the MDF is investigating the statement.

Chiphwanya said at the moment the MDF is not recruiting any new soldiers and warned those people who have issued the statement that once found they will face the law.

He further said that his office is aware that many people wants to join the security force in the country and once everything is said Malawians will be told through well-known media houses in the country.
