Disagreements have emerged between former Vice President Khumbo Kachali and Mzimba West Member of Parliament Harry Mkandawire over uncompleted project at Mzuzu Prison in the Northern Region.

According to published reports, Kachali and Mkandaire jointly promised to construct a juvenile cell at Mzuzu Prison but the construction work has stalled for two years now.

The constructions of the cell is said to have been abandoned at half mark.

While promising to finish the project, Kachali shifted the blame to Mkandawire, saying he did not fulfill his pledge.

On his part, Mkandawire expressed surprise, saying had contributed a lot and thought the project had been completed.

Mkandawire asked Kachali to verify the information of his contribution with Mzuzu prison authority.

Meanwhile officials at Mzuzu prison have expressed concern over the stalled project, saying the situation at the prison is pathetic.
