As debate continues over the health condition of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who was last seen three weeks ago, information from State House says the President has appointed four High Court Judges.

This has been disclosed in a press statement signed by Chief Secretary to the President Mr. George Mkondiwa released on Thursday evening.

According to Mkondiwa, the appointment of the four Judges namely; Mr. Joseph Chigona, Mrs. Dorothy de Grabrielle, Mrs. Ruth Chinangwa, and Mr. George Bakuwa is with effect from Thursday.

“The President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, in exercise of his powers conferred upon him by section 111 sub section (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, has appointed the following as Judges of the High Court of Malawi,” reads in part the statement.

Meanwhile the appointment of four Judges has attracted mixed reactions on the social media with others urging Mutharika to appear in public if he is really fit and able to appoints people into public positions.
