Former President Dr. Bakili Muluzi who is also founder of the United Democratic Front (UDF) on Wednesday led Malawians in paying homage to the departed veteran politician late Gwanda Chakuamba at COMESA Hall in Blantyre.

Chakuamba died on Monday at Blantyre Adventist Hospital after long battle with kidney failure.

The body of late Chakuamba left College of Medicine at exactly 9:30am with no government official despite President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika ordering it to be State funeral.

As this was not enough, Chakuamba’s body was carried ordinary hearse

.
The other surprising thing was that only three senior politicians were available at college of medicine namely; Professor John Chisi of Umodzi Party (UP) and Mark Katsonga Phiri of (PPM) and first deputy speaker of Parliament Esther Mcheka Chilenje.

Drama also ensued at Comesa Hall where very less than 100 people welcomed the body of late Chakuamba, former President of Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

The body of Chakuamba will lye in state until tomorrow when it will leave for Nsanje for burial on Friday October 29, 2016.
