Second wife to late Gwanda Chakuamba, Grace Mhango has accused Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Esther Mcheka Chilenje Nkhoma of leading relations of Chakuamba’s first wife in ill-treating her during the funeral.
Mhango said this in a media briefing at her Manja residence in Blantyre a day after her husband’s burial.
In the interview, Mhango claimed that during the funeral she was treated as an outcast despite caring Chakuamba during the time of illness until his death on Monday last week at Blantyre Adventist Hospital in Blantyre.
Mhango accused Chilenje of being in forefront by summoning the Police to arrest her, accusing her of trying to bring confusion at the funeral.
When contacted for comment, Chilenje Nkhoma who started by laughing denied the claims branding her as mad woman.
“Not to my knowledge my brother, that woman is mad,” said Chilenje.
Chakuamba’s relatives while acknowledging that Chakuamba was staying Mhango until his dealth, could not deny or confirm if the two were living as husband and wife.
Church officials also said they were not aware that Mhango was second wife to late Chakuamba.
She claimed Chakuamba loved her most since the time he knew her “because of late Chakufwa Chihana who was keeping me.”
Mango said Chakuamba took her to Blantyre from Mzuzu in 2001 and made it open that she was his second wife.
