The hearing of a 2.4 Billion Kwacha case involving former Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo and 18 others has commenced in Lilongwe with 3 accused persons making admissions to some facts in the case.

According to the amended charge sheet the accused persons are suspected of forming a chain to swindle government money.

Some of the notable people spotted at the court includes; Paul Mphwiyo and Maxwell Namate.

Meanwhile the case has been adjourned to tomorrow to allow the defense to go through the new charge.

Mhwiyo’s shooting on September 13, 2013 at his residence in Lilongwe led to the massive revelation to the plunder of the public funds at Capitol during the reign of former President Dr. Joyce Banda.

So far about seven people including former Justice Minister Raphael Kasambara have convicted and they are serving jail sentence in Malawi prisons.
