Pope Francis special envoy Eminence Fernando Cardinal Filoni has arrived in the country through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe.

Cardinal Filoni was welcomed by Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa of the Archdiocese of Blantyre who is also the Chairman of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi and Archbishop Tarcisius Ziyaye of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.

According to information sourced by this publication, Cardinal Filoni will be in the country for five days fulfilling official duties and one of it being the consecration of Saint Joseph the Worker Cathedral of Karonga Catholic Diocese scheduled for this coming Saturday.

Here is his programme in Malawi:

November 3: He will lead in the Eucharistic celebration in the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe at 5pm.

November 4: He will interact with the Laity (akhristu eni ake) including children at St. Mary’s Parish in the diocese of Karonga.

November 5: He will consecrate on behalf of Pope Francis Saint Joseph the Worker Cathedral of the Diocese of Karonga.

November 6: He will lead in a Eucharistic celebration at St. Patrick’s Parish in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe at 5pm.

November 7: In the morning hours he will lead in the Eucharistic Celebration at the Monastery of the Poor Clares before visiting Children at Missionary Sisters of Charity (Sisters of St. Tereza of Calcutta) in Kawale.

From Malawi, he will proceed to Zambia.
