Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that Mzuzu University (MZUNI) has been closed indefinitely over continued strike by the staff.

This has been confirmed in a statement made available to the press seen by FOM’s reporter signed by the University Management.

In a statement, the management has ordered the student to leave the campus by 5pm today.

The academic and support staff started the strike three weeks ago after the Industrial Court vacated the injunction obtained by the University management restraining the staff on embarking on the strike.

The strike has also forced the management to delay the 18th MZUNI graduation to a later date.

Speaking in an interview, MZUNI Student Union President Wazamazama Katatu said the closure will affect the students greatly considering that they were preparing for examinations.

Katatu also said the closure will affect the academic calendar for the institution.
